Our charity was founded in 1990 as Gofal Housing Trust – following the closure of Parc and Penyfai Hospitals, Bridgend. The aim was to ensure that the then in-patients would receive the support and assistance they would need to lead independent lives within the community.
Over the past 20 years, we have grown from just one supported house and one part-time member of staff, into one of Wales’ leading mental health charities. We now operate across 11 counties in Wales and provide a wide range of services to people experiencing mental ill health.
In 2010 we went through a rebranding process in order to redefine our mission and vision for the future. We also decided to change our name from Gofal Cymru to Gofal.
