Debbie Green obtained a history degree from Cambridge and moved to Cardiff in 1988 to start her accountancy training with Deloittes and subsequently PWC. Since qualifying as a Chartered Accountant she has worked in finance roles connected with Lottery grant funding in the Arts Council of Wales, before moving to Chwarae Teg, a Women’s Economic Development Charity, in 2001 as Director of Finance and Resources.
She started her career in housing 2005, and played a key role in the merger of two Associations to form Coastal Housing Group in 2008. She is Group Director of Finance and IT Services, and a member of the senior management team for Coastal Housing Group which manages 5,000 homes in Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Carmarthenshire, has a multimillion pound building development and regeneration programme, and is in the top 50 of the Times Best Companies to work for.
She is Chair of Chwarae Teg, and on the Board of Tai Calon, the community mutual housing organisation operating in Blaenau Gwent. She has also recently been co-opted onto the National Council of Community Housing Cymru.
In 2005 Debbie was awarded an MBA from the Open University and in 2010 she qualified to become a chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Housing.
