Thinking differently about mental health and wellbeing

Gofal Crisis Fund

Gofal’s Crisis Fund is an internal funding pot that can be accessed by any of our service users who are experiencing, or are at risk of experiencing, mental health crisis.

They can apply for a grant of up to £250 to purchase whatever they need to improve their wellbeing and overcome the crisis. The fund is only used as a last resort, so those who apply are often desperate and have nowhere else to turn. As mental health impacts every area of a person’s life, the items they need are often simple things but are fundamental to improving wellbeing and making the first step towards recovery.

Examples of what people have applied for from the Gofal Crisis Fund include:  a bed for someone currently sleeping on the floor, a fridge to prevent food from spoiling, a week of food for a family whose benefits have been suspended, moving costs for someone fleeing domestic violence and help with debts to prevent homelessness.

Gofal need at least £10,000 a year to keep this fund up and running. Every year the Gofal Crisis Fund is oversubscribed and we need to ensure this money continues to be available for those who need it the most.

We are currently trying to raise £10,000 to keep the fund open for another year.
