Another successful Charity Ball for Gofal

Gofal recently hosted its 4th Annual Charity Ball at the Mercure Holland House Hotel and Spa Cardiff.  The night was a resounding success with table spaces sold out and everyone enjoying the food and entertainment provided.

Our guest speakers on the evening were sports pyschologist and motivational speaker Andy McCann, and Gofal service user Claire Rees.  Both speakers have experience of mental ill health and talked about their own personal journeys of recovery.  Claire's story was particulary inspiring and reiterated the fact that anyone one of us could experience a mental health problem at any time during our lives.Man holiding a sign which says myth

We also had our stalwart Time to Change Wales mental health myths and facts game, which was expertly hosted, as was the whole of the night, by professional compere Tom Noaks.

Closing the evening whilst packing out the dance floor was the amazing One Vision of Freddie, one of the UK's best tribute's to the late, great Freddie Mercury.

The money raised through ticket sales, the auction, donations and the Time to Change Wales Myth/Fact game saw us raise a fantastic £6,500.  The profit from this will be used to support the delievery of Gofal's services.  Each year we provide support to approximately 2,000 people in Wales with mental health problems.  The generosity from people attending our fundraising events helps us to have a positive lasting impact on the mental health and wellbeing of the people we support.
