Gofal makes top 100 companies list at first attempt
Gofal has been named as one of the top 100 UK not-for-profit companies in the 2014 Sunday Times Best Companies list, published earlier this week.
Gofal is one of only six Welsh companies to make it onto the highly regarded list, which measures employee engagement by asking their views on the organisation’s leadership and their own wellbeing.
As a mental health and wellbeing charity, Gofal is committed to demonstrating outstanding practice in relation to staff mental health and wellbeing, learning and development.
Gofal’s Head of HR and Organisational Development Yasmin Mottahedin explained: "Gofal’s mission is to have a positive lasting impact in all that we do and we know that the support our staff provide to people with mental health problems is invaluable. In order for our staff to be at their best and deliver our mission, we have made their health and general wellbeing a priority.
"We entered into the Sunday Times Best Companies survey to better understand how our staff felt about working for Gofal. Achieving the Best Companies ‘One Star’ rating and making it onto the top 100 list at our first attempt is a great achievement, but more importantly it has helped us to understand where we can improve moving forward.
"We are currently developing an approach that will focus on the things that affect staff wellbeing on a daily basis. We understand that staff wellbeing is not a one-size-fits-all approach and we are working very closely with our teams to ensure that we get it right."

85% of staff agreed – My manager regularly expresses his/her appreciation when I do a good job.
86% of staff agreed – The experience I gain from this job is valuable for my future.
Best Companies is the largest survey of workplace engagement in the UK with 897 organisations entering and 250,000 employees surveyed.
Best Companies have been producing and publishing the 'Best Companies to Work For' lists since 2001 to measure and acknowledge excellence in workplace engagement. Each year hundreds of organisations from a wide range of industries use the employee survey to measure the engagement of their employees. The responses from these surveys are collated and combined to produce an overall engagement score for each organisation. Only the organisations with the highest level of overall employee engagement qualify for the 100 Best Not-For-Profit Organisations to Work For list in 2014.
