Pathways to Employment project extended for three years

Gofal has been awarded the contract to continue delivering our Pathways to Employment project in Caerphilly County Borough for a further two years with an option for an additional year.

Pathways to Employment provides a specialist service to people with mental health needs, assisting them to access or retain employment, access education and vocational opportunities, or re-discover skills and abilities that they may have lost.

Activities include a weekly volunteer run food co-op in our Blackwood office which has opportunities for practical work experience and links with a community allotment project in Bargoed. Benefits of the project include building aspirations, strengths, experience and re-learning or development of new skills, and the wider impact of the scheme has resulted in a real community of people who have come through or are currently accessing Gofal’s services meeting weekly at the food co-op.

The Taraggan community allotment project in Bargoed regularly has Pathways volunteers help out.

We would like to thank all the team who were involved in the process, with a special thank you to Andrew who volunteers on the project. Andrew attended the tender interview and was able to communicate the huge impact the service has on supporting people in their recovery and in being able to fulfil their aspirations.

The team looks forward to continuing to provide this service to the people we support and continue to develop our partnerships with employers and training providers in the Caerphilly borough community to ensure we help people develop as part of their journey of recovery.
