Support to people in crisis
| We run the only Crisis House in Wales, offering a more homely and less stigmatising alternative for people who would otherwise be admitted to hospital. Our staff provide support 24 hours a day, working with the person to identify strategies to avoid a future crisis occurring. We also consider each person’s housing, employment, education, physical and social and emotional needs. Working closely with the NHS’s Crisis Intervention and Home Treatment team, most people who come to the house successfully avoid hospital admission, and their feedback tells us that they and their friends and family prefer the Crisis House to a hospital setting.
We also work with people to ensure that their mental health crisis does not result in a housing crisis, and visa versa. We work with patients and staff on mental health wards to ensure suitable accommodation is in place for when a person is ready to leave hospital. We support people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness find accommodation that will support their mental wellbeing. The services we offer will vary from area to area; to find out what is available in a particular location please contact your local office or email enquiries@gofal.org.uk
